Project Description
Birch Cooper, LMHC
Believing that the relationship between client and therapist is key, Birch has an authentic therapeutic style that is non-judgmental, supportive, and empathetic. In addition, he provides a space that is safe and comfortable creating the ideal conditions for personal growth. With an emphasis on collaboration, Birch has a passion for working with clients to alleviate distress, gain clarity and foster a life they find additionally meaningful. He believes strongly in connecting with clients in order to better understand their unique perspectives, context, and history. With a foundation in the client-centered and humanistic perspectives, Birch incorporates Motivational Interviewing, and Socratic questioning as well as aspects of Cognitive Behavioral and Gestalt Therapy. Birch works collaboratively with clients to address challenges around anxiety, depression, identity, relationships, past trauma, and life transitions.
Birch received his Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral & Cognitive Neuroscience from CUNY Baccalaureate for Unique and Interdisciplinary Studies and his Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from the City College of New York. When not at Praxis he can be found exploring Riverside Park, searching for additions to his art, photography, and design library, or learning more about the great architecture our city has to offer.
